F-44 Logistic Warehouse
F-44 is a warehouse with customs, planned in the western support area of Ben-Gurion 2000 Airport to be used as a logistic center to the commercial activities of the ground terminal, where part of it serves as a distribution center to raw materials and stocks for stores and restaurants in the terminal or welfare stores in the support area.
The warehouse was planned with the concept of maximal flexibility to fit unspecified and changing needs. Therefore, a varied range of marketing units were built, different in size, shape and location, in order to fit a maximal amount of potential customers. For that reason, the warehouse was designed with a minimal number of fixed elements.
The design of the warehouse offers a division of phases. Each phase seems as a part of a whole but functions on its own. Two unloading ramps were planned to allow an independent functioning of each of the phases and also in order to create a balance and to fit programmatic requirements.
A minimal base unit was planned with the possibility of combination to larger units if needed.
The building was planned and divided according to a flow diagram of activities.
The design of the warehouse refers to the matching building in the eastern support area, and uses vertical cores as rounded rhythmic elements that soften the intersection of the unloading ramps with the wall and divides the rather long building.
